Dr. Williams:
For vulvar cancer, fortunately because it is external, women will often perceive a sore or a lump themselves which will undergo biopsy, and most often a surgical excision will be all that’s required. For cancer that is spread further beyond just the skin of the vulva, that involves the lymph nodes or has spread elsewhere, then a combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy would be given.
