Katherine Puckett, Ph.D.:
Yoga is a mind-body tool that can be really helpful to a person going through cancer treatment. One of the key elements involved in yoga is focusing on the breath, and focused breathing or deep breathing has many healing qualities, including the fact that it activates the relaxation response.

The practice of yoga offers a woman some physical movement, but also with the focus on the breath and just the slow, gentleness of the practice, it offers psychological or mental calming as well as the physical benefits from moving the body and these particular patterns that are healthy and helpful.
