Katherine Puckett, Ph.D.:
My suggestion to a woman who has been diagnosed with cancer is to reach out to other caring people as soon as possible, to use supportive, caring relationships in the journey. There are many other mind-body techniques that a person can use, and I’d love to review those with you, but I think turning to other caring people first is really, really important.

I think relationships are key in healing. I believe healing happens in the context of relationships, and going through this cancer journey, dealing with the shock of the diagnosis at first, and then going through treatment is much easier to go through with someone else, with other people who care about that person. So connecting with those caring people I think is first.
