Katherine Puckett, Ph.D.:
Absolutely. Counseling can be a core healing-tool for anybody going through the cancer journey. Very definitely, and many people come to realize that as they experience it, even if they weren’t familiar with counseling before, when they feel what it’s like to sit with somebody who really will listen and hear them, really get them, not try to tell them how to feel, what to think or what not to think, but how to use what they have inside of them.

People usually start to feel what that’s like. There’s also science to back it up. There are positive changes happening in the mind and in the body chemistry, sitting in that kind of relationship that move a person toward healing.
