According to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, an estimated 30 million people may be affected by thyroid disorders, but only half have been diagnosed. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck that helps the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles and other organs functioning normally.
