When I was 19, I was in a motorcycle accident. I was the passenger of the bike and the driver failed to see the red light, causing us to get hit by a truck. I was only wearing flip flops; jeans, a t-shirt, with no helmet or body gear. Causing me to be ejected 20 feet into the air and putting all of my weight on my right ankle. By the grace of God I blacked out and only remember calling out to my mom. I had to find out what happened by a police report. After being in the hospital for 3 months and over 9 surgeries, I got the chance to walk again. But it didn't end there.
It has been 5 years since my accident and I have completely destroy all of my cartilage, leading me to decide if I should get an ankle fusion or quite possibly and amputation. My surgery will be in less then a month for an ankle fusion, and I wanted to reach out to other women who have gotten the same procedure.
I am also scared and very nervous because I still cant seem to get health coverage and I will be the one paying for everything out of pocket. Plus I have no idea where to take my career because I am limited to walking and was wondering what other women decided to do with their future.
