My Fourth Leash

Rate This

Yesterday was the day that I was hopefully going to be released. The nurses had clamped off the suction tube from my chest and I was able to finally move freely about the room. The next step was to take the chest tube out and get off the IV meds. Then I would be able to go home.

It turns out that when I did the X-ray yesterday that my lung was filling back up with air. Not a good sign. I was in Kim’s room visiting and the nurse came to track me down to bring me back to my own room to hook me back up to the suction tube from the wall. Damn! Now I am back to being immobile because of the four foot attachment tube, aka my fourth leash. I can’t even get to the bathroom. I have to use a bedside commode. Oh well, I guess it’s better than a catheter or bedpan.

I had originally planned on getting a hotel room for this weekend. Wes is out of town and so I thought it would be the perfect time to hang out with some girlfriends poolside at the Montelucia resort. Well, now I’m stuck here so if anyone is free this weekend I would LOVE the company. I am starting to go a little stir crazy sitting here all day.

Gina, one of the patients here at CTCA is gone back home to Buffalo for the weekend and she usually would sit with me to help pass the time. I helped her set up a website at caringbridge.org. If you get a chance to check it out, her URL is: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ginadavis
