In-Home Kidney Dialysis: How Do You Describe This To Others?

Rate This

Sharon recalls what she tells friends and family about her in-home kidney dialysis treatments.

Sharon:
When I have to explain to people other than those that know me really well, I explain to them that I am on a dialysis program that I am able to do at home. It is; I am able to do my own treatment.

My treatment takes less time and my husband is my helper so he is always there with me and it’s much more liberating, and I feel very good. I feel better.

That’s important. It’s very important that you feel better because, just between you and I, when you are in center it pulls it faster and then for a longer period of time and it makes you weak. It pulls your electrolyte. So when you do it at home it’s not as harsh so you feel much better and you feel energized. I am able to go to the gym every day.
