Breakthrough bleeding is a possibility. Wait and see what happens with your menstrual cycle next month.

Hello Anonymous,
Implantation bleeding is sometimes confused for the an early period.
Typically, implantation bleeding occurs 6 to 12 days after conception, is very scant-more like spotting, and is usually pink or brownish in color.
Implantation is the attachment of the fertilized egg, the embryo, to the uterine lining. It usually happens about a week after conception. Conception results when sperm fertilizes a mature egg. Because the fertilized egg is very tiny, it has little impact on the uterus and implantation is usually not associated with cramps.
What you describe sounds more like the start of an early period. Wait and see what happens in the next few days. If you continue to have a vaginal discharge that resembles your normal menstrual period, then you have the answer to your question.

Thank you very much! Unfortunately it is over a week until my period is expected. Could it just be birth control breakthrough bleeding? It's my fourth month on the pill!
