Ive attempted using tampons and they totally freak me out! I always end up having to have my mom help me put them in or take them out. Its super embarrassing to my self esteem. I try to relax as much as I can but theyre scary. I feel like i'm too small "down there" for the tampon to fit. They generally hurt more when i take them out but are just as scary when i try to put them in. I'm also super sensitive there to begin with. I would stick with pads for a few months then try again, but I'm starting my school swim team in two weeks. Is it possible that I am "too small" right now? Are there any super small tampons? Is it the sensitivity that makes them hurt?

Hello Anonymous,
I can appreciate your situation. Many years ago, when I first used a tampon, it was very uncomfortable.
A compact size tampon with a plastic applicator might be a good choice for you.
The Tampax website offers information I think you might find helpful.
