I can say that getting it taken out would probably be your best option. I have had the mirena for over a year and your sex drive will only get lower. For me it started killing the mood completely to where I would just do it so no problems would happen but that made us lose all of the passion in our sex.

I can tell almost all the comments come from Anonimous users. I'am a guy, and I've been in troubles with my marriage for two years. The first pregnancy year was terrible because we faced some problems trying to fix the ovule, we pass through an intense progesterone treatment. During those 9 months we had sexual intercourse only a few times, may be 5 to 10 times.
After our daughter's birth our problem just became worst, because we are using Norplant as a parenthood planning method, and is just sucks. She has almost no sexual drive, we only don't make love anymore, and only after a strong discussion she accepts to be with me. Sometimes I thought that she feels repulsion to me, but I can't tell it for sure. In recent days I started investigating about this active ingredient on Norplant called Levonorgestrel, and guess what, almost all the people posting on internet was saying the same.

The symptoms: weight gain, depression, migraine, abdominal pain, continuous bleeding, I can't tell for sure, but I think she is developing some cyst, and of course no sexual drive at all.

This situation is driving our marriage to an end. Sometimes I think I can't take it anymore, and I told her that she doesn't love anymore, if you don't know this girls, guys understand about love through sex. I try to be supportive with her, but as you might know, it is kind of difficult for a guy.

Please somebody can give me any advice?

Pavel.

Maybe try asking her if she would be willing to try another birth control? Maybe something that wouldnt reek such havoc on not just her but your intimate relationship as well? The intimate relationship IS important not only for men but for women as well. She will will feel better about your relationship if you two are closer. Having a child in the house also is a new big stepping stone, so you both need time together. Just try explaining to her that you need sensual alone time with her, not just sexual, but that you long for that close personal relationship with her. I know sometimes its hard to try to say something to someone who doesnt want to hear it, but dont give up. Good luck.

I too have been experiencing negative side affects to the marina! my fiance and I have 4 kids and I never had an issue with low sex drive till after my last child was born(after the the insertion of the iud). I also went to take a shower about a week ago and couldn't believe the amount of hair loss I had in the shower previously! I didn't even think about it being caused by the mirena until I seen these posts! moodiness is def a factor too!! my fiance and I are constantly fighting because I never want to have sex. its just never appealing to me infact I really could go prob a life time without sex! ahhhhh....I wish my fiance was a little a more supportive because I didn't choose this :( why is it that we women should always be the one to prevent pregnancy yet even we do were the ones that suffer the affects?...although I know it has an affect.on men and the fact that it may seem that were no longer into them sexually were the ones that have to deal with the disappointment that were not satisfying our partner. Also I'm 29 with 4 kids 11 being my oldest child so having more kids honestly would be a nightmare for me ih and did I mention that my finace doesn't like condoms? smh...im just not sure what to do once i get the iud out. also if your wondering I didn't have my tubes tied because I was told that I'd have to go back in a month or so later and I read a bunch of horror stories about it being a major surgery. I'm stuck :(

This is my original post from last year. I had my Mirena removed and was o ut on a low does birth control pill which worked well.. hubby and I decided to try for baby and I am now 31 weeks pregnant. The 5 months that I went with out birth control I finally felt like myself. I am going to het my tubes tied after baby is born bc I have no interest in putting synthetic hormones in my body again. I recommend to anyone to have thwir iud removed. It was nothing but problems for me and was driving myself and husband insane. My sex drive slowly came back to where it should be for a 25 year old woman. Even pregnant I want sex more then I ever did on the iud. Do your research ladies.

After reading the comments I realize I am having similar symptoms I had the para hard and that one made me bleed a lot. So I switched to the Mirena and I am spotting continuesly I am breaking out a lot. I am always hungry and I gained weight within only a month. This birth control is making me so tired all the time and I constantly have mood changes. This is almost like being pregnant. And if I stay on it I'll probably end up looking pregnant. I'm going to remove it ASAP. Probably going to use Condoms, even female condoms I just don't know who I am becoming and I want to feel like myself again.
