Bleeding after taking Next Choice

Well, I had sex with my boyfriend on October 9th unprotected, stupid I know, and I was expecting my period the following week sometime. The following day I had purchased Next Choice (31 hours after the fiasco) and took it accordingly to the directions for both pills. I had no side effects what so ever after taking. But now, October 13th, I have a slight headache, and I've had some cramping the previous day especially and I was wondering if that was normal?

Thanks maryann , honestly i did have protected sexual intercourse only once but I was completly sure everything was ok , I only took pregnancy test cause people say you might get your period and still be pregant so far I am not sexually active till I get birth control, but it is a relief knowing that next choice does mess up your whole menstrual cycle , ;).

Next Choice will cause irregularities in your menstrual cycle and how your period presents. It may take a month or two to get back to what you normally experienced. What really concerns me is that you took a pregnancy test. Are you continuing to have unprotected sex? Emergency contraception is (as the name implies) for emergency use and is not a form of birth control. It reeks havoc with your body. Please, start using birth control regularly and do not rely on an emergency contraception.

Hi I took next choice on July got the bleeding a couple days later , than my period finally arrived august 30 and it lasted the same way as usual my only question ,is I was sopposed to get my period on the 2nd of Oct n I was wondering if that pill makes you have irregular periods , I took a pregancy test n it came out negative but am still kind of worried. I would appreciate the feedback thanks

You are not pregnant. You took the emergency contraceptive as directed. It will cause changes and irregularities in your menstrual cycle. This is probably your period for the month.

Hi guys. Similar situation. My period came September 14-19 n I had unprotected sex the 23 in the morning n took the pill at 2 in the afternoon. The minute I took it my stomach cramped. I took the next pill 12 hours later. Today is the 1st and I had brown/reddish discharge. Its lighter then my normal period but i'm cramping like I usually do when my period is on. Is this my cycle for the month?? Does it mean i'm not pregnant. Please help :(

Hey guys its really been helpful reading these comments, calming me down a bit. I had unprotected sex last night around 6pm, noo condom, and im not on birth control (i know, very dumb move!). Took the first next choice pill around 8pm, and the second one at 830pm so i wouldnt forget in the morning. He pulled out, but i was worried about pre cum, and im not entirely sure if he pulled out in time. This was also my first time having sex, soo even more stress! Im just worried a bit because im scheduled to get my period in 4 days, but i have been having some dizziness and A TON of exhaustion (im guessing side effects of next choice) . Just need somebody to reassure me i did everything okay! (Besides unprotected sex). Also, when should i expect my period? Please and thank you! :)

Just to share added statistics: I also had just finished my normal period, had some unprotected contact without ejaculation (but am paranoid because I was told there can be sperm in the pre-ejaculatory fluid), took Next Choice as directed and then freaked out when 6 days later I got what appears to be my period.

I have an appointment to see my obgyn next week, and we'll be discussing bc options.

Hey again. Just wanted to update for me. I got bleeding again around the 7th or 8th til about the 12 or 13th but it was still mostly brown. I'm not sure what it means. I took a pregnancy test a week or so ago and it came out negative but I'm still unsure and afraid. It makes it worse that I'm also trying to enter the Air Force and they're taking me to MEPS which they will test me for a bunch of things and I guess I'll find out if I'm really pregnant. I'm so scared for that and anything else that will disqualify me :/.
