So, I had sex right after my period ended (oct 30) and it was unprotected. I got a little paranoid (even though I think he did not came inside me) and took the next choice pill the next day.. followed all the instructions. but now, six days later i am bleeding seems like a menstruation. What is this? is this going to be menstruation for the month of November? My next due date is 21/22. Am I going to get my period by then? I am kind of freaking out. help please.

If your really that worried about a pregnancy, maybe it's time to either stop having sex or to get on a reliable form of birth control. Because of the high chance of irregular cycles after taking a morning after pill you may or may not get your period on schedule. If you don't, take a test, and yes, if your old enough for sex, your old enough to buy a pregnancy test. It's part of life. Don't be scared.

An upcoming period and early pregnancy signs have almost the exact same symptoms, since they are both regulated by hormones in your body, and it is difficult to analyze symptoms that could be either condition. You can take a home pregnancy tests after you have missed your expected period.

Remember, taking the emergency contraception can alter your cycle. It may not show up when you expect it to, so try and remain calm. As you recall from the article, the following are known side effects of taking emergency contraception:
- period that is longer in duration
- period that begins a week early (didn't happen for you, obviously)
- period that begins a week late (we know...bad timing for a late period)!!!
- breakthrough bleeding (bleeding or spotting that occurs in-between period)
If you don't get it by next week, you can take a home pregnancy test to verify. Try and enjoy a few days off this weekend (assuming you're celebrating Thanksgiving).

Hi Anon,
I know you're concerned. But again, you did everything you were supposed to (despite the whole "unprotected sex" thing). Relax. You should be getting your period in the next week or so. Try and remember that the emergency contraception may alter your cycle, so it may not show up exactly on the 21/22. Try and remain calm. Stress can do a number on your cycle and your health.
Read back through this thread, and that article about emergency contraception, search out articles on how to protect yourself from this in the future (let me know if you need help locating some). You also may want to join a ]]>EmpowHER Groups]]> to connect with women like yourself going through what you're going through.
Good luck and let us know what happens.
Take care,
Christine
