can anal sex transmit hiv virus?

i had sex with my boyfriend and he is worried
he tried to put his penis in my anus but it was to big and didnt pentrate at all
but he is worried that maybe their is a chance that he could have caught some thing even thou i told him im hiv negative this is just proof to prove to him
p.s we did not use condom d attempting anl sex but we use one during any vaginal sex

Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. You are right, you can't catch HIV from someone who doesn't have it, however, if you have HPV or any other STD/STI it can be spread that way. Have you and your partner been tested?
It's natural to be curious about anal sex. If you decide to try it again, you may want to use a bit of lubricant to make it go easier and/or a condom. And never go from anal sex to vaginal sex. Make sure he washes afterward too, and not because of any potential virus, but because of bacteria that could be present. It's not for everyone, but if you decide to try again, hope the tips help.
