Hello nickyB,

All that you can do is wait. Try to relax, because stressing that you might be pregnant can cause a delay in the start of your period.

If you are late by one week, take a home pregnancy test. Read and follow the directions carefully so that you get accurate results.

Hello nickyB,

There is a risk of conceiving any time you have unprotected sex. In your situation, there was a chance when your boyfriend did not use a condom. Withdrawal is not an effective way of preventing pregnancy.

Your chance of getting pregnant is highest during ovulation. Ovulation is the time in your menstrual cycle, usually about two weeks before the start of your period, when one of your ovaries releases an egg. If you have unprotected sex during ovulation, there is a chance that one sperm can fertilize the released egg.

Before you engage in any more sexual activity, please learn about how pregnancy happens. You can do this by visiting the EmpowHER Sexual Health 101 Resource page. You will find informative articles and a slide show.
