Hi Anonymous,

There could have been a risk. Check with your gynecologist.

Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by tricking your body not to ovulate. The daily dose of an active pill contains a synthetic hormone to keep hormone levels consistent and prevent ovulation. When you take the inactive pills, hormone levels drop and you shed the lining of the uterus. It is not a real period but considered withdrawal bleeding.

Missing seven active pills in a row definitely puts you at risk for becoming pregnant. This is especially true if you miss the first active pills in a new pack or the last active pills in the pack.

I missed 3-4 of my pills this past holiday. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex twice, I believe and he came inside of me. I took the pills afterwards or 3 more days later. I honestly don't remember which. I finished the rest of the pills in the pack, and also ended up losing a pill from the pack. So I took a pill today to evwn it out and start in the rest . Of the new pack.. It's been almost a week and I havent had my period or even spotting. The only thing that im having is slight cramps. Im getting a pregnancy test this weekend since its been 2 weeks since all this happened. Could I be pregnant.Stuff like this has happened before where ii forgot to take my pill, but I always got my period except for this time.

I missed my birth control for the FIRST four days in the pack. I've been on the pill for the past few months, been on time and haven't skipped any days. When I remembered, I continued to take my pills for two days before I had unprotected sex. He didn't cum in me but I still want to know my chances and if I should buy a Contraceptive

Hi Anonymous,

Before you purchase or use an emergency contraceptive, please consult your gynecologist.

Missing the first four active pills puts you at risk. In total, you had gone 9 days (5 placebo + 4 missed) without active hormone containing pills. Then you started taking your pills again.

This is a question for your gynecologist.

I missed 3 pills during the 3rd week of my birth control pills, I don't usually get a period with the birth control pills I'm on and had unprotected sex during the 2 days I missed my pill, the day after the unprotected sex I started having cramps and light bleeding and I never made up for the pills I forgot... Could I be pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

There was a chance that you could have become pregnant. Check with your gynecologist, but I would suggest taking a early response pregnancy test before starting a new pack.

I've missed almost a week of birth control pills. I've had sex twice unprotected in the last 48 hours. My boyfriend busted inside of me. I started spotting today because of the pills I've missed. I don't know if there's a chance I could possibly be pregnant since all this happened within two days. I feel like it's too early for my body to even tell. Someone help!

Hi Anonymous,

I agree that the spotting is breakthrough bleeding, which is bleeding between periods, caused by missing one week of birth control pills. You are at greater risk of not being protected if you miss seven consecutive days of active pills.

When you had sex, was it during these days of missed pills?

Yes, I've had sex unprotected twice while not on the pill.

Hi Anonymous,

There is a possibility that you could have become pregnant. Consult your gynecologist, who can advise you as to the need to test for pregnancy and whether or not to continue taking the remaining pills in the current pack.
