Q:

Can a UTI stop my period ?

It feels like I'm on my period 3 days ago I was spotting it was a significant amount enough to flow in the toilet when I urinate however it was just for that one day.
Following that day I immediately got symptoms of a UTI
Could I have an infection that blocked or stopped my period from continuing to flow?

Yes I've had a uti before. I also have menstrual cramps that come and go and sore breasts I'm thinking I should take a pregnancy test because accidents do happen but would it be too early to take one seeing that these symptoms are ongoing?

Hi Anon

A pregnancy test is accurate as soon as you missed a period - or about 14 days after sex.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

Any kind of health condition can cause the menstrual cycle to change so it's possible. Have you had a diagnosis of a UTI or do you just think you may have one? If it's the latter, you need to see your doctor.
Best,
Susan
