I took plan b after unprotected sex with my husband 2 1/2 weeks ago, exaclty on my most fertile day (didnt realize that until later). Had possibly breakthrough bleeding one week after that, one week before my expected period. Now I'm 5 days late of my scheduled period and have been having minor cramping (which i rarely if ever get regularly) and slight nausea. Whenever I did have any cramping before AF it only lasted one day tops! Any imput as to what could be causeing the cramping?

But now that it's March 14th, I stoll haven't gotten my period. Could I be pregnant???? My period tracker says in 28 days late. Help!

Hello Anonymous,

The "period" which started on February 1 was actually breakthrough or bleeding between periods, resulting from taking an emergency contraceptive on January 29.

Your period could be late as a side effect of the pill, which can upset your menstrual cycle, or pregnancy, if you had unprotected intercourse after February 6.

Hi, on the 7th of February me and my boyfriend had protected sex but the condom ended up breaking and he came in me. The next morning I took Plan B. Between that time period I took 3 pregnancy tests and they all came out negative. I did have symptoms of pregnancy(tender breast and cramps) but those would go away and come back. On the 14 of Feburary we had protected sex and on the day before I spotted once. I'm still waiting on my period today(19th) and im 3 days late. I'm confused on whether or not im pregnant and I'm in need of help.

Hello Anonymous,

It was too early to take a pregnancy test between February 7 and 8.

A pregnancy test detects hCG levels in either the urine or blood. This hormone is produced once the fertilize egg has implanted in the uterus. That can take six to 12 days. Levels of hCG can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception and in urine, about 12 to 14 days.

If you do not have vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking Plan B, then you can take a pregnancy test.

Maryann

Hi,
I had sex a week after my period. I used a condom but I still went to get a plan b because I had an abortion in October and have been in fear of getting pregnant. This was my first time having sex since the abortion. Then the next week I had sex again and it was protected also, however, the condom did tear. I didn't get a plan b after this. I had my period 5 days before I expected it to come. It was heavy for 3 days and was light the rest of the week. It has been a week since my period started. Since then I have been experiencing back pains, tender breasts, and lower abdominal cramps. I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was negative. Should I be concerned and what is the next thing I should do?

Hello Anonymous,

If you had a period, you are not pregnant. I do not know why you should be having those symptoms now. Since it is causing you concern, why not contact your gynecologist.

My bf & i had unprotected sex plenty while he was on vaca to visit, i took one plan b on sunday which was the day after we first had intercourse. We repeatedly had unprotected sex i took another pill a few days later (wed not knowing it was bad). I received my period on a Monday (a day & a week after the first pill i took. It was shorter & lighter than my usual periods with not so much cramping, mood swings or cravings. My periods are normally the worst. However two weeks later & im feeling some cramping, been feeling nauseas for a few days, very moody & extremely tired. Im unsure of what this means i'm scheduled to see my dr in a month but im anxious of the outcome. Could i be pregnant?

I had unpertected sex last sat. Took plan b pill within. 8hrs. I had a baby a year ago and used plan b and it didn't work. And when I had unpertected sex I knew right away when I was pregnant. This time I had that feeling that morning then I took the pill that feeling was gone. But less than a week actually yesterday and today I have alight gramping and feel different. Could the pill still be effective several days after taking it

Hello Anonymous,

Plan B is most effective in preventing pregnancy when taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex. You know it worked if you have vaginal bleeding. If you do not have bleeding within 3 weeks of taking the pill, take a pregnancy test.

The pill works right away.

Maryann
