Q:

Does anyone know what types of tests are best for a breast cancer patient who has tested both HER2 positive, and HER2 borderline?

Hello everyone,

A reader sent me a rather technical medical question in my "ASK Michelle" section and since I'm not a doctor I'm honestly not sure how to answer it. I wanted to post it here in case anyone with knowledge of the FISH process can offer any thoughts or advice. Thank you so much--please see the question below:

"In Immunohistochemistry the result of HER2 border line positive (+2) .In an another laboratory Immunohistochemistry of the same patient of HER2 is negative.
Should I go for FISH process for HER2? Can you send your opinion as early as possible?"

Hi Michelle,

Is this a doctor asking, or the patient herself? The question sounds like it is from the doctor (referring to his/her patient), and if so, I would prefer to provide information to the patient herself (I'm not sure if any of us are equipped to provide medical expertise to another doctor!).

Thanks,
Alison
