i have noticed a lump in my breast for about 6months now. i am scared and confused.

Hi Ronke! I am new here and I am very interested to know if you have followed up with a physician. Being a nurse and a patient, I can tell you don't be scared be proactive. I wish you all the best.

Hi ronke - Thanks for your question and sharing your concerns about the lump in your breast. To answer your question, no, every lump does not necessarily mean surgery. Many women get cysts, or lumps, in their breasts. Most of these -80% - are benign, which means they're not cancerous. They can be caused by several things including infections, injuries, normal body changes and medicines.

No matter what, though, you need to be seen by a doctor who has the expertise to figure out what type of lump you have and what, if anything, needs to be done. I know you are scared, but this is something you must do. Will you go see your doctor and let me know what you learn? We will be here to help you, whatever you learn when you go.
