Q:

Does washing with soap and water kill sperm on hands?

My boyfriend and I engaged in manual sex. If before fingering me he had semen on his hands, I wanted to know if him washing his hands with soap and water is enough to get rid of the sperm so it can't get my pregnant. I'm not on birth control and we didn't use protection. As a precaution before manual sex aka fingering, are soap and water enough to make sure that my boyfriend has no sperm on his hands? I also gave him a handjob and he ejaculated with wet fresh semen on my hands but I went to the bathroom and washed it off with luke warm water and antibacterial soap and then dried after. After drying I urinated and washed my vagina with antibacterial soap touching it with the same hand, in order to prevent a UTI. I'm sorry I'm just really worried that I may not be pregnant so I'm freaking myself out. This event happened March 15th (11 days after my period had started) so its been over 2 weeks since then, if I take a pregnancy test will it be accurate? I don't expect my period till April 3rd

Once sperm is exposed to the air it is considered dead.... so you have no worries.

Hi Anonymous,

You cannot get pregnant by having sperm on your hands. Sperm must enter your vagina in order for you to become pregnant. Does that help?

Hi Anonymous,

Don't be afraid, there is absolutely no way you can be pregnant. I hope this helps.

You washed your hands very well with soap and water, even if it was cold water. You could not become pregnant by wiping after using the toilet.

Good handwashing removed any sperm form your hands. Using toilet tissue to wipe would keep any sperm, if there was any, from entering your body.

You don't have to worry about being pregnant.

Hi, anonymous
I gave my boyfriend a hand job. he cumed all over my hands. i washed my hands with cold water and soap and then later realised that there was still some left and it had dried up on my hands. cringe ! so i went to the bathroom again and scrubbed like crazy with loads of soap but still cold water. i then went to toilet. I know is unlikely that im pregnant, but im paranoid. Can anyone help ?

Hi Anonymous,
No, there is no chance that your girlfriend will get pregnant by touching her. Sperm must enter the vagina in order for her to become pregnant. It appears from your explanation that your hands were dry and therefore, you two are safe. I hope this helps.
