Q:

Does washing with soap and water kill sperm on hands?

My boyfriend and I engaged in manual sex. If before fingering me he had semen on his hands, I wanted to know if him washing his hands with soap and water is enough to get rid of the sperm so it can't get my pregnant. I'm not on birth control and we didn't use protection. As a precaution before manual sex aka fingering, are soap and water enough to make sure that my boyfriend has no sperm on his hands? I also gave him a handjob and he ejaculated with wet fresh semen on my hands but I went to the bathroom and washed it off with luke warm water and antibacterial soap and then dried after. After drying I urinated and washed my vagina with antibacterial soap touching it with the same hand, in order to prevent a UTI. I'm sorry I'm just really worried that I may not be pregnant so I'm freaking myself out. This event happened March 15th (11 days after my period had started) so its been over 2 weeks since then, if I take a pregnancy test will it be accurate? I don't expect my period till April 3rd

Hello Anonymous,

There should have been no risk for pregnancy if you removed all the semen with wet wipes.

Hello Anonymous,

Pre ejaculte fluid itself does not contain sperm. If you recently ejaculated, some sperm could have remained in your urethra, which is the tube that semen and urine pass through. Once you urinated, any sperm was flushed out.

You washed your fingers, so no risk at all.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

There was no risk of her becoming pregnant by fingering.

If you are concerned about sperm being in pre ejaculate fluid, there was no risk.

Pre ejaculate fluid itself does not contain sperm.

If you had a recent ejaculation, sperm would remain in your urethra, which is the tube that urine and semen pass through.

Once you urinated, any sperm was flushed out. Since you last masturbated 10 days ago, and urinated, no risk.

Maryann

On the last day of my period, I gave my boyfriend a hj. All of the cum got on one spot on the blanket, none on our hands. We washed our hands and then went upstairs for probably an hour. Then we came back downstairs and he was going to finger me so he washed his hands again and then fingered me. I've recently started high intensity workouts for softball and I had spotting 2 days ago, brown, and then today after the workout I wiped after I peed and I had a tiny spot of red blood. I have no other pregnancy symptoms and I am a virgin, what could be happening

Hello Anonymous,

I really do not know why you have been spotting.

This is not implantation bleeding, if that is your concern. From what you have shared, there is no chance that you became pregnant.

If the spotting continues, and it is not time for your period to start, consider speaking with your physician.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Your vagina is inside of your body. You washed your hands and removed the semen. I do not see any risk for pregnancy.

Try to relax because stressing over this will delay the start of your period.

Okay, so I gave my boyfriend a handjob but he only precum. 10 minutes later I went to the bathroom, washed my hands twice and noticed that my period had just started. Is there any chance of getting pregnant if I inserted a tampon?
