Early pregnancy or ovarian cyst??

What does it mean if your ovaries hurt?

I stopped taking bcp three months ago and for the past 4-5 weeks have been having the following symptoms: breast enlargement/fullness, breast/nipple tenderness, increased discharge, flushed face, increased appetite, light occasional menstrual-like cramping (no bleeding), one-sided (right) occasional sharp twinges/pain & dull ache, bloating, slight weight gain.
I have taken two home-preg test, both with neg results. Approx six weeks ago, prior to all of these symptoms, I had one isolated instance of pinkish discharge (which may have been due to ovulation?). I am currently waiting it out for a few weeks until I go for a blood test at dr office. In the meantime, not knowing is driving me crazy!

Hello i desperately need advice! :(
I have really unregular period as it comes usually after 35 or 40 days never on time! Today is the 44th day! I took a pregnancy test on the 40th day and it came out negative.. i also have a light pain in my left ovary and sharp pain when i lift heavy objects. I had a problem like this before about 5 months ago i went to the doctors and the doctor took a pregnancy test as she assumed that it could be the ovarian pregnancy but the test came out negative! 2weeks after visiting the doctors i got my period.. and now i dont know what to do.. i read online all the possible things that i could have and most of people say that they ended up being pregnant(which i hope im not)
Any advice on what to do or think what it is ? Please help :( !

Hi there.
My name is Kim. I've been having pains in my ovaries on both sides for over a week now plus I'm two weeks late for my period. When the pain started it felt more like cramps just after I missed my period but eventually turned into ovary pain and hasn't gone since. It's not the worst pain but noticable even when I'm running around all day at work. Just before my missed period I noticed I started using the toilet more frequently and I'm sleeping more however I've always loved a good lay in. My boobs haven't gotten any larger but I've felt lately the nipples feel more sensitive. I've taken three pregnancy test since my missed period but all have come back negative. Could I have a cyst or something?

Hello Kim,

Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority of ovarian cysts disappear without treatment within a few months.

However, ovarian cysts — especially those that have ruptured — sometimes produce serious symptoms.

A large ovarian cyst can cause abdominal discomfort. If a large cyst presses on your bladder, you may feel the need to urinate more frequently because bladder capacity is reduced.

In some cases, menstrual irregularities, pain during intercourse, or irregular bowel movements can occur.

Consider scheduling an appointment with your gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann

Hello Karina,

Had your periods been regular up until two months ago? How old are you?

Depending on your age, two months without a period could be a sign that you are in perimenopause. Some women experience the changes associated with fluctuating estrogen levels in their late 40s.

Consider reaching out to your gynecologist if you are younger and have had a history of regular menstrual cycles.

The menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. An upset in that balance will cause changes.

Periods of prolonged stress, a thyroid gland problem, major increase in physical exercise, and dramatic changes in weight can cause a missed period.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Have you ever felt this way before your period is about to start?

If your period is late by at least seven days, test again. For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.

If you get your period and these symptoms go away, nothing to worry about, just premenstrual symptoms.

If you are still concerned, schedule an appointment with your gynecologist.

Maryann

I am a 14 year old girl and I am NOTTTTT sexually active but for the past few days I've been having occasional twang-like pain and it hurts. The pain is in the lower right abdomen sort of next to my vagina but I think it is my ovary. I looked online and it said that sometimes you can get pain there for periods but I have never experienced the pain before. I have also had very bad upper abdomen pain near the ribs and its been there for 1 1/2 months and I went to the doctor but they didn't find anything. It hurts when I touch my rib and it is slighty swollen as well. Could someone please help me as to finding out why these areas hurt. Someone please help!!!!

Hello Anonymous,

If the doctor could not find the cause of your pain, it will be difficult for us to do so over the internet.

Are you due to start your period? If so, when is it due? The lower right abdominal pain may be linked to ovulation. Some women have cramping or a shooting pain when the ovary releases the egg.

Sometimes, a warm compress or heating pad on low setting placed over the area can help.

Regarding the pain and swelling in the rib, did you have any type of injury to that spot or unusual strain, such as lifting a very heavy object or contact in a sport?

Regards,
Maryann
