I had six years with nothing, then last week I had an ultrasound, and the next day received a call from the doctor that there was what appears to be new activity in the ONLY kidney I have which has previously had a tumor removed in 2001. Is this common?

Hi Lenartd-
I'm so sorry you have a recurrence. According to what I've read, it does not seem to be uncommon.
I found some info at: http://www.cornellurology.com/kidney/gi/rcc.shtml and http://www.cancer.org/docroot/cri/content/cri_2_4_1x_what_are_the_key_statistics_for_kidney_cancer_22.asp?sitearea=cr
Here is another link to the Kidney Cancer Association, which looks like it has some good resources: http://www.kidneycancer.org/about-us/contact-us
Good luck and please let us know if we can be of further assistance to you.
