Hello everyone!
A dear friend of mine called me tonight to ask me for some advice on how to fix her clogged-up ear. It seems she is getting over a bad cold and was doing some heavy-duty nose blowing and her left ear feels all funny now. Sort of like when you're on a plane and your ears pop. Hers needs to pop but won't. I thought maybe a decongestant would help her, or opening her mouth as wide as she can--that helps me sometimes when my ears won't pop on a plane. She tried opening her mouth and even moving her jaw back and forth but it didn't do anything.
She said it's hard to hear now in her left ear and it feels very full and has a bit of pressure, so she's hoping to get it back to normal pretty fast. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for her? I also tried to gently remind her not to blow her nose with such force so hopefully this won't happen again. Thanks so much everyone, Michelle

It's 1 am and I can't sleep because I'm in so much pain! I too, blew my nose too hard today because of a cold I've had for a week.. and immediately heard a loud popping noise and immediate pain. Since then it has been bugging me.. Yawning only irritates it. Plugging my nose and blowing outward will only cause more pain. There is no way I can go to the doctor or get anything right now.. I need immediate help my ear hurts!!!! :( I'm trying the ear and thumb technique but can't figure it out.... Someone who knows how, help me pleaseeeeee!

I have found a really easy way to unpop your ears now get some paracetamol liquid and eat it, then after five or ten mins hold your nose and exhale from your nose, hopefully it should pop! If it still doesn't work just go to the doctor, never poke your fingers in your ears or use cotton buds, it will just make it worse!! Get well soon!!

It's not painful it's just clogged up, I used cotton buds to take the wax out, ( I literally tried anything) but it still feels the same, will it go in time for my trip?? Please help, I have tried opening my mouth as wide as I can doing that finger behind your earlobe and everything!! Holding my nose and pushing, nothing is working, I also put water in please help!!

I think your Eustachian tubes are blocked up! Eustachian tubes get blocked up after a cold. The tubes are from your middle ear. They transport fluid from you ear to the middle ear. If the fluid doesn't get transported, you will be left with clogged up ears. I suggest you take a decongestant such as: Mucinex-D or Claritin-D. It won't work overnight, but you'll be on the road to unclogged ears!

My ears have done the same thing except they both are clogged now and it's bothering me a lot and I wish it would just go away
