I have never fit in in the 41 years of life. I finally started doing yoga and meditation and then found the Course In Miracles. Since the changes I have made I now feel a sense of belonging and I am doing better with my addictive behaviors, my anger, my depression and all areas of my life.
I am looking for people who are in a similar situation to connect to because I have not yet found anyone in my area that believes what I do, nor wants to improve themselves. Are there any students of spirituality out there?

Ritzy04, you are welcome here. What have been the sources of your stress? Have you talked to a medical professional? Are you taking any medications?

I would love to get involved with a group like this... Over the years I have developed high blood pressure, extreme over eating, and stress that landed me in the ER several times with "mini-strokes". From there I found other vices that have not brought any kind of happiness to my life and it seems no matter how much I want to change that support system just isn't there.

I am interested in learning more about the Course in Miracles, too! The word "miracles" sounded like a religious course at first, but in your post, you said you consider yourself spiritual. I believe there are many people on this site who consider themselves spiritual as well, and it would be a wonderful conversation to have, particularly as it pertains to helping women feel hopeful, inspired, empowered and joyful! I feel most confident and content when I practice the many areas of spirituality as well; for me, that means being out in nature (it is very humbling!).

When I was going through a major transition in my life, and was very sad most of the time, I went to a counselor who recommended that I read the book, "Taming Your Gremlin". This book HELPED me TREMENDOUSLY! It is very simple and short (almost like a children's book), but the message is clear and to the point. You may want to read it (your local library may have it as well):

I hope we hear more about your Course in Miracles and what being a student of spirituality means to you, and how it has helped you overcome your difficult times.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your post. I think many people can relate to feeling like we don't fit in. We're happy you found some belonging through yoga and meditation and now you have the opportunity to help other women by sharing your knowledge about overcoming addictive behavior and depression. I've also found yoga to be a very effective method for controlling some of my own (busy) thought processes and sleep better because of it.

Am not familiar with the Course in Miracles, though. Can you explain this a little bit more?

And while I haven't read it myself, I have a friend who has successfully overcome some of her own struggles by reading "The Power of Now". In fact, she recently sent me an article about the author who was featured in Oprah's magazine. The article was fascinating and addresses how women can help halt what some might consider negative thought patterns or behavior. Looks like it was pretty well reviewed by readers on amazon if you're interested ... http://www.amazon.com/Power-Now-Guide-Spiritual-Enlightenment/dp/1577314...
