Hi everyone. My name is stephanie. I was reading these posts and I was wondering if ya'll
Can give me your opinion on my periods cause my DH and I have been ttc since january. My periods are very irrgular so I have been keeping track of them as you will see there all over the place. Was wondering if someone had some insight to my delima.
Janurary my period was on the 22nd.
Febuary was the 17th.
March was the 10th.
April was the 25th.
May so far nothing...had sex on 5/6 and 5/8.
When I look up coneption dates it says my most fertal days were 5/7 through 5/9.
I haven't been on any birth control for over 5 yrs so I don't understand why I haventr conceived yet! Thanks ladies.

Hi,

I had a period on March 16 which lasted for about 6 days, it stopped, I had sex that day and I started bleeding again. I had unprotected sex on April 7 but was using withdrawal method. Didn't get a period until April 23 which only last 3 days and not that heavy. It is now May 26 and I haven't had a period. Do anyone think I could be pregnant? I have used about 10 HPT both using urine first thing in the morning and during the day and they all come up negative. My last time trying was May 23 which would be 44 days since i had sex last. Shouldn't i be showing up as positive if indeed i am pregnant?? Please help - i am desperate.

Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer. Let's see what we can figure out.

From what you tell me, this is the chain of events:

March 16 period ended about March 21
unprotected sex March 21, continued bleeding
(this tells me that a pregnancy would not have occured here)

Unprotected sex April 7
Period April 23rd, ended April 26
(would be quite uncommon to have a 3-day period and be pregnant)

Now it's May 26 and you're waiting for your next period.

If you count from your last period (April 23rd), really you're only about 3 days late. No, I don't think you're pregnant, especially because of the pregnancy test results. I think your April 3-day period was an actual period, and that now you're just a few days late on this one.

If it helps at all, we're getting lots of questions from women who are experiencing changes in their cycles right now. The end of the school year, the beginning of warm weather, the changes in everyone's level of activity, and the resulting hormonal changes can really affect a woman's cycle. Try not to be so stressed out about it, as that only affects it more. Just relax and hang in there -- I'm guessing your May period will start in the next few days.

Hi, Anon.

I wouldn't worry that your periods are irregular. While we always treat a 28-day cycle as "normal," the reality is this: many women have shorter cycles and many women have longer cycles, and some women have very irregular cycles due to the time of year, the medicines they are taking, the amount of stress they are under or other changes in their lives.

You're just on about a 33- or 34- day cycle right now, which is nothing to worry about. If you were used to having shorter cycles, I would expect that to return sometime in the next few months. We're actually getting quite a few questions about this sort of thing right now, probably due to the stress of school ending and the change in everyone's weather and level of activity.

Does that help a little?
