Hi Jessica here. Ok here we are.......I am feeling my uterus expand and feel little sharp pains my doctor did another hcg and it was still low. I want a vaginal ultrasound done because I know my body and she is not wanting to do it....I mean honest I am not crazy I feel it and have all the symptoms I have also read alot of women take til 2 and 3 mths before they can pick up their hcg levels and go on to have healthy babies. I am not upset anymore though because the things I keep feeling I know for a fact I am pregnant, I just want to know how common this is?

Hi I am hoping i can get some insight since everyone on this thread seems really knowledgeable.

I had unprotected sex with my ex boyfrriend on april24th, this was also day 2 of my period (i usually only get my period for 3-4 days.)

So we had sex during my period, it was heavy at the time also(sorry to be graphic)

I took plan b the next day, within the 24 hour window.

About a week after i took plan b i had spotting for one day..that was it.

Now, im not LATE for my period yet or anything...just, really nervous.

I wouldnt be expecting it until the end of May since I last had it the end of April...

Do you think plan b worked? was that one day of spotting normal or could it have been implantation bleeding? I know that I heard having sex during your period lessens your chances of being pregnant, I just hope thats true bc this was a "one-time" not-planned kind of situation. Im so scared! Any thoughts, past experiences would be welcomed!!

thanks so much in advance!

Hi anon,
I re-posted your question in the appropriate place as its own separate ASK question, and not part of a previous thread. It is getting too confusing, and your question is worthy of its own thread! :)

You can find your question, and subsequent answers, here: https://www.empowher.com/community/all/ask

with the title: Unprotected sex on 4/24...do you think Plan B (emergency contraception) worked?

I'm glad you are finding all of the information helpful! I hope you are able to have your question answered too! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.

UPDATE..........ok my doctor put me off until monday because she is apparently sick so I am so fed up. I can't find another doc so got a hpt......to see if the baby was ok since bleeding stopped, it was negative. There is no hope now is there? Even if the bleeding was implantation and not miscarriage it would still show up on a hpt right at least by now even really early I would be three weeks now. I pretty much give up I'm so sad........

Hello, I am doing better today I just have to wait until monday and see what happens my symptoms of pregnancy seem to be going away but my cervix is still high soft and closed. I wonder if I just ovulated late and it's taking a while to kick in and for my hcg to rise because still no more bleeding and the two blood tests were done over 5 days ago two days apart so maybe monday I will get some answers I don't know anymore but I'm becoming more at peace with it and realizing it will go either way. I just hope it's ok. I never passed anything while bleeding so maybe my baby will make it. If that had been implantation bleeding since we were together the night of the 15th of April and it happened on May 1st which is 16 days past conception date then the blood tests may have not been able to pick up enough hcg if it was implantation right or am I beating a dead horse here? Sorry just trying to have some hope that all is not lost yet.

Thankyou so much it means alot to me.....I am trying really hard to stay calm and relax I know stress is worse for us both. And she changed it this morning when I was on my way to the office because she isn't goin to be in today I was very upset but the receptionist asked if I was having anymore problems I told her no the bleeding stopped but I am scared I want to know if it's ok. They put me down for first thing in the morning so I am praying it will all be ok. Thankyou for the web site I will go look into it and thanks for all the support.

Jessica, try to lessen your stress now if you can. It won't help anything, and it may make things worse. This has been a tough time for you, but staying calm can help both you and the baby. Breathe, and hang in there.

While most women do have HCG levels that rise quickly in a pregnancy and stay there, not all do. As many as 15 percent of women have low levels and go on to have a healthy baby.

You are at a higher risk for miscarriage with falling levels of HCG, but it's not always the case. Here's a page that talks about HCG levels:

http://miscarriage.about.com/od/checkinghcglevels/tp/hcgFAQ.htm

Why did your ob/gyn change your appointment to tomorrow, do you know?

Hang in there, Jessica. We're all right behind you.

They said threatening miscarriage I am so scared right now I have all of these symptoms and I have the little movements but my ob/gyn pushed my appt to tomorrow instead of today now and my hcg level went down from the dr's test the other day to the ER test. It doesn't look good for this baby I don't know what to do. I'd only be 2-3 weeks as per gestation but could something effect my hcg rise or can it be a very slow start or am I doomed. I'm very upset sorry I am driving myself crazy over here. :(

Oh, dear, Jessica. That's worrisome. Very glad the bleeding has stopped. Did they tell you why they thought it happened? (And by the way, congratulations!!!)
