I was diagnosed with RA and "possible" lupus about 10 years ago. I have noticed that the last year or so my fingernails just look horrible. I am embarrassed by it. Also, its been a rough year with the RA. Every single joint hurts to the point I just cry.. I take lyrica and that's all I take. I do not want pain medication or anything to mask the issue! I am just to the point that I can't handle it anymore. My Dr just keeps running tests and wanting to change my medicine up, but I have been through so many medications the last ten years that I just don't want to do that anymore...any advice at all about what I should do or why I have these really bad fingernails? Thank u

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.  I would love to share some helpful information with you on the subject.

In general, nail defects are not connected to RA.  This symptom however should not be ignored because it could be the sign of something very serious.  Below is a link that describes the possible causes.

There are many natural remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis.  So many in fact for me to describe them here.  But below is a link which goes into detail about the nature of RA and how to treat it without medication.

I hope this is helpful. Let us know if you have any more questions.
