Q:

lump in my breast + swollen lymph node

I'm 22 years old and my mother had breast cancer two years ago. Few weeks ago I discovered a lump in my right breast. It feels like little hard knots and can be painful. Lately I discovered that the tissue at the right side of my right breast seems more dense compared to the tissue in my left breast. Also I have swollen lymph nodes under my right arm pit and the whole area aches and sometimes itches. I went to the doctor and I am going to get tests done soon.
My questions is could it be something else then cancer? I was reading about breast cancer and after reading about inflammatory breast cancer I freaked out so bad, because many symptoms match and at the moment I'm feeling hopeless and I've cried for hours. I'm just wondering if theres even hope that what I have might be something else then cancer.

Hi Crystal - Yes, breast lumps can be caused by benign cysts. They can be painful for some women while others have no pain at all. These cysts are not breast cancer. Pat
