Q:

Missed birth control pills, no period?

I had a pack of pills, and I missed about a week, i think it was the second week. I didn't know what to do so I just disregarded the week I missed and took the rest of my pack on schedule. I still haven't gotten my period and it's been almost 3 weeks. I haven't had sex or anything, I don't know why it's so late. Help?!

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for seeking our help with your concern about a late period and missed birth control pills.

If you have not been sexually active this month, pregnancy can be ruled out as the cause.

Missing a week of active pills could be the reason you have not started your period. A drop in hormone levels could have upset the normal balance of hormones that regulate your menstrual cycle.

Anonymous, give your gynecologist a call. Report what has happened. Better to get your physician's opinion before starting then next pack of pills.

Regards,
Maryann
