Hi i'm 29 years old. My husband and i had final decided to try to have a baby. The beginning of my last menstruation was on Jan 24, 2011. We had sex on the Feb 7 and i was due to have my period on the 21st of Feb. I have always had a normal period meaning i have never missed at all, I have all the symptoms of getting my period and still do.I am 4 days late now and i have took a pregnancy test and the results were negative. My question is should wait longer to take another test or could it all be a mental issue with my missed period?

Hi dmode,
Thank you for joining the EmpowHer community. The first day of your last menstrual cycle began on January 24 with the first day of bleeding. If your normal period lasts 5 to 7 days, then, theoretically, you could have ovulated around February 7. Ovulation is difficult to predict, so this is just an educated guess because ovulation generally occurs 14 days after the last day of bleeding or mid-cycle. For the most accurate results with a home pregnancy test, it is advisable to wait one week after a missed period. You can get a false-negative if you test too early, time the test wrong or use dilute urine.
You can repeat a home pregnancy this coming Monday, February 28, or any day thereafter. A blood test for the pregnancy hormone hCG is more accurate than the urine test for hCG.
