Hi Mystique80,

I'd schedule a doctor's appointment. I am sure there's nothing to be alarmed about, but since your period is over 10 days late and the tests keep coming back negative, a call to your doctor will give some peace of mind.

Hi Mystique80,

You certainly have some early pregnancy symptoms, so taking a pregnancy test today would definitely give you an accurate answer since your period is due tomorrow.

If you aren't pregnant, I would schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss the pressure in lower abdomen, headaches and backache pressure where legs connect to pelvic area and slight cramps that you mentioned earlier.

If you are not pregnant and your tummy still feels heavy, it's a good idea to see the doctor.

Did this help? Are you going to take a HPT today? Please let me know what the results are so I can help you along...

Best,

Kristin

Hi Mystique,

Thank you for reaching out to the EmpowHER community and WELCOME! Trying to conceive a baby is a very exciting time for you and your husband! I have two children and planned both pregnancies and it was always such an exciting time in our lives!

It sounds to me that you got your period even though it was very light. If you indeed got your period, then odds are you didn't get pregnant this time around. If you would have had brownish spotting then that would be a sign of implantation bleeding, but it still sounds to me like you got your period.

A pregnancy test can be taken 10-14 days after unprotected sex and when taken correctly, will certainly be accurate by the time your period is due.

Mystique80, when is your next period due? You can take a pregnancy test 5 days before a missed period to know for sure.

The highest chance of pregnancy is during the second and third weeks of the menstrual cycle. While a normal cycle is considered anywhere between 21 and 35 days, the average is about 28 days.  Ovulation (the time when a woman is fertile) occurs mid month, this averages to day 14 every month give or take several days before and after. If a woman has unprotected sex around this time, she may get pregnant. A woman who has unprotected sex has about a 20% chance of pregnancy every month.

Let me know if this helps. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Best,

Kristin
