The white bump has been there for almost a year and is about the size of a small green pea. It has never bother him until 2 wks ago. He said occasionally it has a burning pain. What could be the cause of this and what type of doctor should he see???? thank you for your quick reply

Schedule an appointment with your internist or dentist. Following a physical evaluation, the physician or dentist  can refer him to a specialist, if necessary. Since the lump has been there for almost one year and has recently caused pain, it needs to be checked soon. There is always the possibility that it may be a early sign of oral cancer.
