Q:

Is my period delayed from hormonal fluctuation from taking emergency pill after outercourse?

I'm a virgin. I was on the 5th day of my period when my bf and I gave into the hormonal rush. We didn't intend to have unprotected sex for the lack of protection.
He came when I performed oral on him. We cleaned it up. Then, a little while later, our parts rubbed against each other and his thing felt cold against my warmth.

Just to avoid any sort of risk, for our act of rushing due to heat of the moment, my boyfriend got me the pill which I took within 36 hours.

My period in January came on 21st January. I took the emergency pill on 28th January. I have not got my periods till March 6.

I'm wondering if it's just a hormonal fluctuation from the pill or something else. I will consult a gynae soon.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

Genital to genital touching is not safe. But since you took emergency contraception there should be no risk at all. There was likely no need to take it at all since you would not have been ovulating soon.

Delayed periods are a common side effect of taking EC so this is likely what's going on. A pregnancy test can let you know for sure. If negative, your period should be along soon.
Best,
Susan
