My period is late after taking Postinor 2

Hello,
I was on my 6th day of my cycle (just finishing my period). The condom split so I took the first tablet of postinor2 2 hours later (1am). We then had unprotected sex 6 hours later (7am). I took the 2nd postinor tablet 3 hours later(10am).
8 days later I had heavy bleeding lasting 4 days. Firstly, is this a sign that postinor worked?
Since then i have had no sign of my period.
In the last 2 weeks (aboit 22nd day of cycle) I have had the flu and been unwell. This has all made me quite anxious.
My period cycle is quite irregular.
Thanks for your help in advance

Hi,

Emergency contraception can cause your period to be late. If you don't get your period, you'll need to test for pregnancy. HPTs are accurate 14-21 days after sex.

Hi, Anon.

The pill(s) should be taken as soon as possible and within 3 days (72 hours). So you took it within the expected time frame. Did you take both pills? In the two-pill pack, the second pill should be taken 12 hours after the first, though if you took them closer than that or together, it won't harm you. It can cause irregularity in your cycle, so that's likely why your period is delayed.

Hello Helena. I took both pills at once, afterwards I experienced cramping and tender breasts (thought it was due to my forthcoming period) . Now it's Saturday no period still, I have very little brown spotting.

Hi,

The symptoms you are having can be from both your period and the ECP. Some women don't get withdrawal bleeding. You will just have to wait it out. If you don't get any bleeding (your period) you will need to test for pregnancy. HPTs are accurate 14-21 days after sex.

Hi, I was having unpleasant non-consensual experience on May 3 (calendar wise, May 3-5 should be my ovulation day), I'm still a virgin now but I'm afraid some precum got in me. So I'm taking postinor 2, the first is 35 hours after, and the second is almost exactly 12 hours after the first. No side effect unless elevated heart rate. On May 12 I got bleeding (clotty and red like a period), continued till only a spot on May 14-15. I should have my period around May 19-21 but it never came, now it's almost 10 days late which has never happened before. From May 25 I burped a lot all day, and from May 28 I felt headache, nauseated, bloated but I never throw up (I got history on gastric problem like indigestion and sensitive intestine that go on and off). I have no craving, my breast are like usual, just one time super mild cramp like a 3-second pinch on my lower abdomen. On May 28 (24 days past ovulation, 38 days from 1st day of last period) I used HPT with sensitivity 25 miu, it was negative. Is it likely that I'm pregnant? I'm super stressed and scared for a month because of this and my overtime work schedule. What should i do now? Thank a lot, at least I got to unload some burdens.

Hi,

Postinor 2 can cause irregularity in your cycle, so it's not uncommon to have a late or missed period. If you had withdrawal bleeding after taking the Postinor, (which you did), that means it was effective. Your cycle should return to normal with your next period.

Pre-ejaculate itself does not contain sperm. If a male has had a recent ejaculation, sperm can remain in the urethra (the tube that both semen and urine pass through). Once he urinates, sperm is flushed out.

Hope this helps.

Hi, thx for ur reply, it was what i needed. In the end, I got my period on June 7, a weird 2-day period. Bcos I'm still unsure, I wait for another month and I got another period on July 4. I hope my 28-day cycle is back on track. So basically, my period is 21 days late after using postinor. One of the causes of the lateness is yeast infection (digestive tract), which is apparently common occurence when hormonal imbalance happens (that's the doc said). I truly thank you for ur reply, it truly encouraged me and saved me from being totally depressed.

Cheers :)

Thanks for your reply, it soothes me quite a bit. I'm still not having my period now, which will be 2 weeks late officially. I tested again yesterday and it's negative, with 10 miu sensitivity this time, and I went to general doctor, I currently have digestive yeast infection - which is responsible for my bloating and gastric problem. Still, I wont be fully breathe easily b4 I get my period. Thx a lot though :)
