I am a notorious nail picker, but working on breaking the habit. While I am teaching myself not to pick, what are some tips to have healthier nails that:

  • Break less (yup mine are brittle)?
  • Grow longer (mine are beyond short)?
  • Are not dry (my cuticles are awful)?

Girlfriend I'm so glad you have decided to take care of your hands.
Check to make sure you arent deficient in B Vitamins. The supplement , Biotin ( also known as B7) isgood for nails and hair, too! Hangnails can be a sign of lack in vitamin C! & don't forget calcium which you need to combine with magnesium for maximum absorption .
Essential fatty acids such as fish, flax, evening primrose or borage oil will help with thin brittle nails.

Foods rich in phosphorous, fish, meat, poultry, eggs, nuts & whole grains
Contribute to growth maintenance & repair of cells & tissue, plus hardens nails.

Hi Shana,

I "plagued" with brittle, ridged nails. Partially from long-time exposure to soap and water, and chemotherapy. Moisturizing with cuticle cream and hand cream help. I have even tried a few drops of olive oil massaged on cuticle and hands. It helps:)
