Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

NO! It is absolutely not safe to take it every month! you are using it as a regular contraceptive, where it should be used sparsely for emergencies. Please use any of the popular pre-sex or during sex contraceptive such as IUD or condom respectively.
Note even on the pack, the manufactures warn against regular use.

Hi Anonymous,

When did you have unprotected sex? An emergency contraceptive is effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

Maryann

Hey mary ann, i had unprotected sex with my bf after 9 days of ovulation on feb 4th, but i took the postinor 1 tablet after 12 hours just to be safe. I am supposed to have my period today on 8th feb. But i am not experiencing any period symptoms, should i be worried? Thanks.

Hello Anonymous,

Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It contains a high dose of the synthetic hormone levonorgestrel. Taking the pill can upset the normal hormonal balance that controls your menstrual cycle and cause your period to be late.

Do not worry. If you do not experience any vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, do take a pregnancy test.

Regards,
Maryann
