Hi,
You did waste a pregnancy test. The manufacturers of Next Choice say that if your period is more than one week late, you may be pregnant. That is when you should test for pregnancy.

You are having your period so you are not pregnant.

I am not qualified to recommend a particular contraceptive that is the best. You need to research the different types, look at the positive effects and the potential side effects and chose the one that is best for you.

Some women find it difficult to remember to take an oral contraceptive every day, at the same time each day. For those women, the Depo-Provera shot, which lasts for 3 months, to be an effective and convenient form of birth control. Cost is another factor to consider. Do you have health insurance? Does your policy cover birth control? You may find some helpful information on this website. Use the toolbar at the top of the page to search for information on birth control.

Best regards,
Maryann

We are here to help and answer any questions that you may have. You should not think that your questions or concerns might sound stupid.

The only stupid question is the question not asked.

The vaginal discharge, which began as a brown discharge, and is now a bloody flow that you see when you urinate, is your period. It may seem different to you, when compared to your normal period, because you took Next Choice.

Now that you are sexually active, it is very important that you use some type of birth control regularly. An emergency contraceptive is not intended to be used as birth control. It is meant to be used, as the name suggests, only in emergency situations of unproteccted sex.

Taking Next Choice will cause changes in your menstrual cycle. This means you will have an earlier or later period or the flow can be heavier or lighter. This brown discharge is because of taking Next Choice.

Not convinced, wait one week, and take a home pregnancy test.
