Hi I am a 37 year old mother of 5(1 deseased)a wife of 19 years. I am currently concerned about my last couple period's beings I had a ligation done in 2010 but was told by my doctor after 5 years I could possibly get pregnant again. I came on in ,, July (regularly scheduled) missed august, came on in sept and now late for October,if I doesn't come on by the 31st should I be concerned? I'm hoping I'm not pregnant but having funny symptoms of tender breast, frequent urination and bloated feeling. Even tho my husband wants another baby and is looking into tubal reversal,I on the other hand am not looking to have anymore. What should I do?

Guide

Hi, Woobear. Thank you for writing.

*According to the American Pregnancy Association - If you have had tubal ligation surgery in the past and believe that you are currently experiencing pregnancy symptoms, talk to your health-care provider. Although the probability of getting pregnant is very low, it is still possible.

If you think you might be pregnant, you can test at home. If you get a positive result, see your doctor to discuss your options. If you don't wish to have more children, you wouldn't want to reverse your tubal ligation. Ask your doctor what he feels the likelihood is of getting pregnant at this point.
