Pregnant or not pregnant?

I've been on birth control since I was 15 I am now 24. My boyfriend and I are wanting to try and get pregnant. I recently stoped taking my birth control the 3rd week of my pills. I believe I only took three pills that week. I am now 3 days late on my period, which I'm never late. Could I be pregnant? Or is it to soon to tell? I have no signs of a period. I took a pregnany test day one of missed period and it was negative. But I didn't think just not taking 3 pills would have my period all of wack.

Hi, rabchick.

Thank you for posting.

Missing 3 pills can have an effect. You will have to wait for your period to arrive. It's likely you are not pregnant if had a negative test result.

How long should I wait for my period? We are trying to get pregnant so when will I know when it's safe to try? Is it possible that the birth control is still in my system? Is it bad to try to get pregnant if there's a possibility birth cont is in your system?

Hi,

Some women get pregnant while on the pill or soon after, even accidentally. So there is no harm in getting pregnant right away, though your doctor might say to wait until your next period (after the pill). Check-in with your doctor about this if you are concerned.
