i have a stomach "problem" that doctors still cannot find what i have. i get these random pains or discomforts in my stomach- i have come to find they are generally when i am stressed or upset. i then do not go to the bathroom regulary and then i get nausiated and get more discomfort. what the doctors have guessed i might have is irritable bowl syndrome and generalized anxiety disorder. and that i might have/develop colon cancer because some of the symptoms i had (any other opinions?.. becasue some of these answers are pretty ridiculous)(i a a 18 year old female)

hey!
i feel like this is ridiculous becasue they all say "they guess," "we're not sure" or "it's a possiblity"... there is never a clear answer...
i am not being tested for any of these things.(my school counsler was the one they believed that i may have GAD- and he said that if i wanted to go to the hopsital and have tests ..?)
the gastroentrologist sad that my symptoms have gone down of the colon cancer so he believes that now i may not have it.. it was just probably the GAD that the school counsler said.
-i dont remember if he said anything might be affecting my diet.
i think i may have a little bit but i am not sure

Then let's focus on the anxiety aspect, Love19. Are you under a lot of stress?

Do you often feeling anxious or fearful about school, or friends, or how the day will go?

Is your home situation good, or stressful?

Do you worry a lot about things in general? (I was always a worrier. I can remember this from when I was a small child. I would worry about things that I didn't have control over, like whether my parents would run out of gas in the car, for instance. Later, my worries transferred to social situations, school situations and similar things.)

Here's the Mayo Clinic's list of symptoms for GAD; do they sound like what you are dealing with?

Love 19,

I also live with an anxiety disorder, and know what you mean about stomach pains that come when stressed or upset. And yes, they can lead straight to your bowels, and lead to either diarrhea or constipation. I don't think the doctors' possible explanations are ridiculous at all. Why do you feel that way?

Are you being treated for any of these possibilities? Are there things about your diet that lead your doctors to suspect IBS? Do you think you have an anxiety disorder/ And are they testing you for anything in specific?
