Q:

Stress, Or Could I Be Pregnant..?

Hello, here is a breakdown of everything so no need to ask questions.

Intercourse: 1-2 Days before last period
Last Period: Sept 25 to Sept 30, some left over on Oct 1.
(Ovulation calendar said I was supposed to ovulate Oct 10-Oct 12 and that same day I experienced brown discharge. This has never happened to me before..It only lasted not even 2 full days. I had to wear a pad. Was this ovulation?)
Expected Period (according to period calendar): Oct 24 (today, and it hasn't came.)

Stress Level, from 1-10: 9 (have a lot going on and I'm stressing out because my calendar says I need to start today)
***My periods do not always come the same time. They fluctuate sometimes.

I have been getting signs that my period is about to start, though. Signs I always get that I'm getting now is: moody, breasts feel bigger, brown discharge (light), chapped lips, and cramps. My sex drive is all the way down because of my stress levels....

I took two PT (both expired two months ago), and they were both negative.

I just need some advice...I don't know what's going on and I'm trying not to stress out..but it's hard...

1. Was I ovulating Oct 10-12??
2. Should I even pay attention to the calendar?
3. Could I be pregnant?... I am not trying to conceive and not financially stable for a child.

Please do not pass judgment on me. I am 24 years old, and people make mistakes.

I just need some advice..Thanks.

Thank you Maryann! :)

I actually got my period 4 days ago, and I took an EPT test that isn't expired, and it was negative to make sure.

Happy with the results.

Thanks!

Hello AppleDaisies,

I would like to welcome you to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us for advice.

I have no way of confirming if you ovulated on either October 10, 11 or 12. If you have used the ovulation calendar in the past and have found it to be accurate, then pay attention to it.

You mention that your periods fluctuate. AppleDaisies, how varied are your menstrual cycles? Generally, are you late by 3 days, 5 days or a week?

It is best to take a home pregnancy test once you are late by at least one week. Always use a name brand test and one that is not expired. Test using the first urine of the morning. It is the most concentrated urine of the day and yields better results.

A pregnancy test checks for hCG levels. This is a hormone that is produced by the cells that form the placenta. Levels can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception and in urine about 12 to 14 days after conception.

Lastly, high levels of stress, particularly during ovulation, can cause a delay in the start of your period.

We try very hard to answer health questions to the best of our abilities and are not here to pass judgement.

Was any of this information helpful?

Regards,

Maryann
