Is there such a thing as a diet doctor? Not a nutritionist.

I am looking for some one who can help me understand why I fail at diets, emotionally is there something wrong. I've had weight issues for 45 years. I have tremendous will power when I am dieting but something always comes up to bring failure.

Yes, there are physicians who promote themselves as diet doctors. However, there is no special training or board certification for this area of medicine, For example, a gastroenterologist is an internist with special training (usually 3 additional years of training).
A weight management program that is staffed with an internist, psychologist or counselor and a registered dietitian along with a support group might work best for you. Try an internet search for such a program. Some such programs focus on bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery is not for everyone. Hopefully, this will get you started in the right direction.
