Q:

What could be wrong?

I got my period on the 19 of November and I was completely done it by November 26th, which to say I had sex that same night. Two days ago I've been having cramps like I was getting my period which I thought was ridiculous and impossible since I just got over it. But needless to say yesterday I went to bathroom and realized I had like dark brown discharge on my underwear. I put in a tampon, and then later that night I started bleeding. It's not a heavy bleeding, but it's not a light one either. I don't think I could be pregnant but is it a possibility? Or should I go and consult my doctor and get checked on that it could possibly be more of a dangerous health issue?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for coming to us with your concern.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding is most commonly the result of anatomical abnormalities such as vaginal dryness, uterine fibroids, , endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or ovarian cysts.

Women who bleed after sexual intercourse are usually evaluated first for colon polyps, cervicitis, which is inflammation of the cervix, vaginal atrophy and cervical cancer.

Anonymous, please consult your gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann
