Hi, I found out that I have ovarian cyst and I'm in process of getting treatment for it meanwhile waiting for blood test results. I was told I can take Tylenol or Motrin for pain as needed which I do. I want to know do you think it's helpful and safe to like massage the area to give any kind of help with the pain? I'm asking this because I'm seeing a naturopathic doctor for my scoliosis and TMJ treatment and as he treats me he puts a lot of pressure on my stomach I want to know is it safe since I have ovarian cyst? Should I tell him that if he can massage the area? I keep thinking with such pressure on my stomach I get ruptured cyst do you think it's possible? Please let me know.

Thank You,
Melissa

I see okay. So the way I'm being treated is not harmful to my ovaries especially the cyst I have?

Thank You,
Melissa

As Maryann indicated, there should be no harm from massaging your stomach area, if you are still concerned consult your treating physician.

Good luck,

Hello Melissa,

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets within or on the surface of an ovary. Many women have ovarian cysts at some time during their lives. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority of ovarian cysts disappear without treatment within a few months.

Massaging the area will not cause the ovarian cyst to rupture. Pressure and massaging only affects the layers of skin, possibly fat and muscle, but will not penetrate to your organs, such as the ovaries.
