Do you get IV antibiotics? Also do you get a PCA machine after the surgery or what pain meds and how often? Can anyone please help has am going for a pre-op assessment this Friday the 20th May. How long after this do I wait for surgery if you know any info would be gratefully appreciated.

May 17, 2011 - 5:56pmThose are all very good questions that you should ask the surgeon when you have your appointment on Friday. It is very likely that you will receive IV antibiotics postoperatively. The nursing staff will monitor your pain level and administer medication according to your physician's orders. During your pre-op assessment, the need and date for surgery will be addressed by your physician.
