Anon - The Skin Cancer Foundation offers a lot of helpful information and also has periodic free screening programs. You can find more information here: http://www.skincancer.org/

Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for your question and for advocating for your mother. Here is an information sheet about performing a Skin Self Exam, and when to contact a doctor to have suspicious areas formally checked out:
Skin Self-Exam
At the bottom of the article, there also are links to great resources for more information from the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Cancer Society.
Here is a link to see if there are any screenings in your area (enter your local information to the left and submit): Locate a Free Screening
Additionally, if she contacts her insurance carrier, or their website, you can find a dermatologist in her area that may be covered. A family practice doctor also may be able to check out those skin areas and let her know if they think it warrants a visit with a dermatologist. If you need further assistance locating a provider in the area, check out this link. You then can verify if they are covered under your mother's health care insurer:
Find a Provider
Good luck and let us know how else we may be able to help you.
