I'm having the same problem. I'm 17 and my periods are fine, this has been happening for 5 days. I get the pain in my throat where my pulse is . U know how your heat beat changes depending with your emotions? If I'm happy my hearts going to beat faster and the pulse in my throat beats at the same rate with my heart. This pain hurts when I breath in, I don't know what to do, this pain will not go away and it's getting me really worried . If I put pressure on it, it's not as bad. What do I do? What could it be?

Growing pains. You're still very young.

Anonymous, have you seen your health care provider about this?

It could be a lymph node, and those swell in response to infection or inflammation in the area above. So if you have a sinus or tonsil infection, for instance, the nodes in your neck may swell. Because there is a lot of sensitivity in that area, when a node swells you sometimes feel like it is blocking part of your trachea and breathing, even if the swelling is slight.

I suggest you see your health care provider in case you have some sort of infection. Please let us know how you're doing.

Usually you do not need to go to the hospital for something like this. The ER is for emergencies. If you are having difficulty breathing or an extremely high fever then you should go, but since it sounds like this is an ongoing issue you can likely wait until your doctor's office is open.

I hope that helps. Good luck.

Im having sharp, kinda thribbing feeling pains every 5-10 minutes at this point in the supraclavicular lymph node area. It woke me up about 3:30 and ive been up ever since. This has been ongoing for weeks and seems worse the last few days. Its on the lower right side of my neck area, hurts into my jaw and shoulder as well when the pain is bad. im a nervous wreck over what this could be. it is tender to the touch sometimes, feeling like im pushing a bad bruise and then sometimes i cant find the spot at all when touching it. ive had a ct of my neck already because of my complaints-came back normal.

Hi, Wade, and thanks so much for your question. I moved it to be a question on its own, so it would have its own headline and perhaps catch the eyes of readers who might be able to offer some similar experiences. Here's where it is now:

After driving the car for 30 mins to an hour, I get out and sometimes my head and back and sides of my neck throbs really hard and sometimes it affects my eyes in some way. like a sensation
similar to flashing. It is painful and I can feel my pulse going through to my head and
hear it in my left ear. This is distracting enough to where I have to stop what I am doing until it passes which is about 2-3 mins. I was in a car accident and I know it did something to my neck but this is 2 years
later, my chiropractor has put my spine in the right position and this has happed after I get an adjustment and sometimes whenever. I had temporarily high blood pressure which amounted to the beginning of hypertension but usually I have good BP and lately I have been exercising a lot and so I thing It may have improved but this scares me, I do have somekind of tendon or scar tissue in my neck, I can feel it pop when I move my head a certain way. I don't take meds because I am afraid of side-effects but
I drink tons of water and eat good and exercise but this still happens. My eyes have clear floaters that I see, kinda like a worm, It was difficult to read my eyes were jumpy and I couldn't think clearly, I was forgetting common things while talking to a friend, I am a 46 yr old male and have had TMJ, cranial adjustments, right now the top of my head hurts, it scares me because my father had a very
bad stroke, he took BP medicine for 30 years and still does, but doesn't do vigorus exercise like I do. Any ideas??? Wade

I kinda didnt want to post here because I didnt want to make you paranoid... but I am having the same throbbing pain in my neck. It is driving me crazy. It will throb like every few seconds to every few minutes all day though there may be a period of time where it doesnt. 90% of the time it just hurts on its on though sometimes when I swallow it will set it off. It hurts alot but its tolerable. So, I was wondering what the hell is hurting me and look it up and seems to be sub mandibular gland. This terrifies me as I was diagnosed with a benign tumor in my partriod gland which is another salivary gland but closer to the ear. I am going to try to go to the doctor in a couple of weeks when I get my insurance straightened out and will be glad to let you know if I find anything out. I wouldnt worry too much, I have read of alot of people having these pains for YEARS and it turn out to be nothing major but it is possible it could be so you should still get in checked out!

I have the same thing going on and it has been about 4 months now. I just had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy and the Dr. did a biopsy of the esophogus and it was normal.
Now, what could it be????
It is really scaring me but reading this makes me feel that it will be ok.
I know I need to see another Doctor to find a DX.
What kind of Doctor do you see for a sub mandibular gland?
Thank you for your postings...It makes me feel some comfort knowing I am not alone!
