I have had one thing after another that I have been diagnosed with over the years. I am 49 and my question is ? Can zinc poisoning still be posible if you zinc and copper test show you dont have it ? I started using fixodent in my early 20's and from then till now i have gone through menopause(10 yrs ago) I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Hashimotos Disease. I have researched neuropathy and it scares me that I could have it.
Thank You,

I can appreciate your concern. While doing some research to better answer your question, I did come across the announcement made in February 2010, that Glaxo was removing zinc from Polident and Fixodent because of pending lawsuits.
I also read an article which appeared in the June 2008 issue of the journal, Neurology, and I quote," Conclusion: Denture cream contains zinc, and chronic excessive use may result in hypocupremia and serious neurologic disease."
I also found that the major consequence of long-term exposure to zinc is copper deficiency.
If you know that your zinc and copper levels are within the normal range, I am assuming that you have discussed your concerns with your doctor. What did your doctor say?
I think your doctor is the best person to ask if zinc poisoning is still possible if blood zinc levels are normal. I am guessing that the damage would have already occurred from the long-term exposure. But that is a guess.
